OptiBiotix Health announces an extension of its commercial agreements inked with global distribution partners for its probiotic supplement as well as its fibre and mineral blend product.

The extension concerns Optiobioix’s CholBiome and WellBiome, two products that address cardiovascular and digestive health respectively and are available in the German, US, Asian and Australian markets.

“We are pleased to announce the continued expansion of OptiBiotix and ProBiotix ingredients in these markets through our distribution partners Agropur, CTC, Maxum and Draco,” comments Stephen O’Hara, CEO of OptiBiotix.

“With the health and wellness industry estimated to be worth €$3.5tn ($4.2tn) in 2019, the launch of WellBiome is a key part in our journey to support the ongoing success of our partners.”

WellBiome is a prebiotic fibre and mineral blend that is said to help maintain a healthy digestive system by increasing essential bacteria, specifically the Bifidobacterium, Bacteroides and Christensenella strains via the product’s high soluble fibre content (94%).

The product is the focus of the extension agreement with original Asian distribution agreement with CTC to include WellBiome as a bulk product, and three additional products under the CholBiome brand.

The territories remain unaffected with distribution rights granted for the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, Colombia, the Dominican Republic and Guatemala.

German market

Closer to home, WellBiome forms part of a health and wellness portfolio with Draco to continue distributing the product in Germany in a distribution extension confirmed last month.

"The introduction of WellBiome gives us the opportunity to extend our product portfolio of functional ingredients with scientifically proven benefits and increase the commercial opportunity,” says Andre Wittke, General Manager at Draco.

“There is growing awareness of the link between gut health and general wellbeing in Germany and WellBiome creates a 'ready for market' opportunity to access this growing health and wellbeing trend."

Additional extension to existing agreements sees Agropur continue distribution of WellBiome in the US, Canada and Mexico, and Maxum Foods in Australia and New Zealand, confirmed last month.

“Backed by key scientific principles, our patented formulation for WellBiome has shown that it is an effective way to support improved health and wellbeing in three primary areas: digestive, cardiovascular and metabolic health,” adds O’Hara.

“As such, we believe WellBiome is ready to combat the health challenges of today, tomorrow and the near future.”

Actial agreement

At the start of July, OptiBiotix announced that its subsidiary, ProBiotix Health had entered into a non-exclusive distribution agreement with Actial Farmaceutica for the distribution of CholBiome and CholBiome X3 in the Asia Pacific region.

The agreement gave Actial the right to distribute the products in Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia and Thailand as probiotic dietary food supplements addressing high cholesterol and blood pressure.

“Backed by key scientific principles, our patented formulation for WellBiome has shown that it is an effective way to support improved health and wellbeing in three primary areas: digestive, cardiovascular and metabolic health,” O’Hara says.

“As such, we believe WellBiome is ready to combat the health challenges of today, tomorrow and the near future.”
