The EFSA Journal and its full archive dating back to 2003 has migrated to Wiley Online Library, as the EU’s central agency seeks greater “openness and engagement” for its primary research work.

While the migration of the Journal to its new platform is an exciting milestone in its history, it is by no means the end of its development,” the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) wrote.

“From a technological perspective, it will continue to benefit from the regular development of the Wiley Online Library in the coming years. The Journal still has some road to travel in terms of impact, database coverage, social media engagement, open data and data visualisation.

“We will continue to fill those gaps so that the Journal becomes a stronger resource for Europe's food safety and risk assessment communities.”

It said the move, which includes a ramping up of social media channels, would enable EFSA staff to focus more of its time on the core scientific mandate.”

“The introduction of new social media tools are of strategic importance to EFSA in increasing public engagement while the improved data access and data visualisation will facilitate EFSA’s drive for openness in risk assessment.”
