Martek signs omega-6 deals in Europe and Asia
Martek Biosciences has signed two new deals to supply its omega-6 ARA (arachidonic acid) ingredients to infant food makers in Australia and Spain.
A deal with Australian company, Milk Powder Solutions, will have Martek’s ARA used in infant formula products in China and Vietnam under the Gold Cow brand name.
Martek vice president of pediatric nutrition, Ethan Leonard, said the deal was an, “important step in Martek's effort to expand its international presence in the infant formula market."
Spanish food giant Puleva Food also recently committed to using Martek’s DHA in an infant formula range it sells only in Spain.
Martek is the world’s leading omega-3 DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) supplier, with it appearing in more than 95 percent of US infant formulas.
