'Face-to-face element makes it so rich' - Nick Morgan on Sports & Active Nutrition Summit

Sports & Active Nutrition Summit 2022 host Nick Morgan has said the event in October will be an 'opportune time' to bring the industry together for three days of focussed discussions, as well as a roundtable lunch, informal networking and live Q&A sessions.

"The face-to-face element is what makes the summit so rich," said Morgan, Managing Director of Sports Integrated. "The agenda is crucial to provide the topic of discussions but ultimately the richness of what happens thereafter is where a lot of the real insights will come out.

"We’re all sensing there is huge opportunity and scope to target a sensitised group of consumers who are interested in exercise, performance and general wellness – there’s a lot to go after."

Event highlights

Produced by NutraIngredients, this year's summit in Amsterdam will bring together industry and research professionals in the sports nutrition space, connecting cutting-edge science, business strategy and key regulatory developments. Delegates can expect to benefit from a wealth of advice on new ingredients, formats and advances that are shaping the industry.

Along with the latest content, the summit is designed around an interactive format offering delegates a variety of informative networking opportunities, including a welcome reception, roundtable lunch, speed networking, networking dinner and networking breaks.

See the programme for more details about speakers and topics that will be covered at the three-day summit. Book your delegate ticket here.

The NutraIngredients team is excited to launch the inaugural Start-up Stars competition  a platform where start-ups can showcase themselves to the Sports & Active Nutrition industry which, says Morgan, will unveil the "trailblazers that have started up with a cool, niche concept, a clear vision and an established business plan".

Start-ups enter on the event website to be in with a chance to be part of the 2022 summit programme live on stage in Amsterdam and featured on NutraIngredients.com  these are a couple of the many benefits of being crowned one of three 2022 Start-up Stars. The closing date for entries is Friday 29 July.

"The more we see those and understand what they’re doing and why, the more we can frame and shape how the industry might develop," Morgan added.

Meanwhile, Sports Nutrition in a Digital Age will be a new feature at this year's event, and will explore the growth of online DTC ecommerce, how technology is evolving and how sports nutrition is becoming more digital with an increased focus on personalisation.

Whilst delegates are busy learning and networking, the Wellness Programme will ensure they keep their body and mind fit during the three days. The programme includes a 5km run and walk hosted by Gencor, healthy eating options, product sampling, tips and competitions.

Speaker schedule

The NutraIngredients team has sought out a raft of specialist contributors to create a comprehensive conference programme with speakers from leading academic institutions and businesses sharing insights, knowledge and practical experience. These sessions are aimed to give delegates the opportunity to get involved with live Q&A and discussions.

Recently confirmed among the line-up of speakers is Juliet Barratt, Co-founder of Grenade. She will join the likes of George Kruis (Co-founder of sports supplement brand FourFive), Zarina Kanji (Head of Health and Wellness at Alibaba Group) and Garyth Stone (Managing Director Consumer Food & Retail at Houlihan Lokey).

Morgan said: "We’re really excited to welcome back some industry greats – Garyth Stone gives a great overview of where the industry is today and where they see it through the lens of the investor in the future.

"We’ve got some of the biggest brands – Glanbia Performance Nutrition, Huel – about how they’ve disrupted the market – and also Bulk, a well-established sports and nutrition brand with a big European footprint. The challenge for myself and those speaking is to help answer questions that delegates didn’t know they need answered but will become obvious to them when we talk about some of the key themes.

"Now is a really good and opportune time to bring everyone together and that is, as we all know, when great discussions take place. People will come away enthused about the opportunities within areas that sports can grow into."
