Probiota Day 2: State of the market, next-gen probiotics, gut-lung axis and personalisation
With just five weeks to go before the start of Probiota in Milan, NutraIngredients is previewing what attendees can expect each day of this three-day microbiome extravaganza.
Probiota bridges the world of science and business, providing a 360° view of all things probiotics, prebiotics, postbiotics and synbiotics. The content goes deep and wide: The breadth of our coverage gives every attendee a higher-level view of the issues, while our experts will also take attendees down rabbit holes for an in-depth understanding of the topics.
Probiota 2022 and 2023 were sold out, so don’t wait to book your place. Probiota 2024 will take place 7-9 February at the NH Milano Congress Hotel in Milan.
Day 2
We start the day with the popular 5K morning run or walk, hosted by Chr. Hansen, to get the blood pumping and clear our minds ahead of a jam-packed day of thought-provoking content, which kicks off with insights into the state of the market with Holland & Barrett, including presentations by Guy Farmer, H&B’s commercial director of health & beauty, and Georgie White, director of customer experience and insights.
Ewa Hudson, director of insights for Lumina Intelligence, will follow this with her insights on Biotics: Evolution or Revolution?
George Paraskevakos, executive director at the International Probiotics Association (IPA), will then lead a panel discussion exploring the regulatory developments across Europe to provide an important view into how the regulatory landscape may impact the wider biotics space moving forward.
We’ll then shift gears back to the science with a presentation by Dr. Daisuke Fujiwara, executive officer at Kirin Holdings, on postbiotics for immunity before exploring the gut-lung axis with Dr. C. Vivek Lal, MD, founder and CEO of ResBiotic Nutrition.
Our afternoon sessions kick off with presentations from our Scientific Frontiers winners, featuring the first winners of our two new categories: Industry research and student-led research projects. These are Shinichi Honda, research manager at Kaneka Corporation, and Stav Peled, Ph.D. student, Technion - Israel Institute of Technology, respectively.
We’ll then move into the exciting world of next-gen probiotics with presentations exploring Faecalibacterium prausnitzii with Dr. Sandrine Auger, INRAE, and Coprococcus with Prof. Remco Kort, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
The final session of Day 2 focuses on personalisation and will feature presentations from Dr. Nathan Price, chief scientific officer at Thorne HealthTech, and Afif Ghannoum, co-founder and CEO at BIOHM Health. Afif and Nathan will also join a panel discussion on the topic featuring representatives from Gnosis by Lesaffre and Givaudan.
