The new vegan offering by Vital Nutrients promises to bring the adrenal system back to life with next gen formula.

Vital Nutrients recently announced the launch of its latest formulation, Vegan Adrenal Support+.

The practitioner-founded supplement company said it recognized a white space and used the opportunity to introduce a vegan adrenal solution to the market.

“There is a critical need for a solution such as Vegan Adrenal Support+, as up to 80% of Americans report experiencing mild to serious feelings of stress throughout their daily lives, which can ultimately lead to a loss of adrenal system resiliency, contributing to overall sluggishness, loss of energy and attention, ‘burn-out’ and brain fog. Imbalance in the adrenal/HPA-axis systems leads to prolonged recovery time and triggers underlying inflammatory response,” explained Nikki Yas, Chief Marketing Officer, Vital Nutrients.

Next gen

According to Yas, one of the new offering's key differentiators is the product's plant-based combination of clinically effective ingredients in a single formula.

“It is the first adrenal health product designed to provide complete system support for energy, resiliency and healthy responses to anxiousness and moods. This unique formula supports adrenal function and the HPA axis for healthy neuro-endocrine system communications, a healthy immune and inflammatory response of the central nervous system, and normal metabolic responses by activation and balance of the endocannabinoid system,” she said.

Recover, reset, rebalance

Vegan Adrenal Support+ targets the three Rs of Adrenal Health: Recover adrenal function, reset the neuroendocrine communication network and rebalance the metabolic response.

The formula recovers adrenal function with 600mg of ashwagandha, which supports a resilient adrenal response and healthy cortisol function. The ingredient also supports the central nervous system and neuroendocrine responses.

When it comes to resetting the neuroendocrine communication network, Vital Nutrients tapped 150mg algal omega-3/DHA (standardized to 30% DHA) to support healthy activation and resolution of inflammatory processes, 25mg copaiba oil [standardized to 10% beta-caryophyllene (BCP)] to support activation of the CBD endocannabinoid system, central nervous system function, healthy immune system response and resolution as well as help with mild fatigue. The formulation also contains 200mg boswellia to support a balanced CBD endocannabinoid system and a healthy immune system.

To rebalance the metabolic response, 50mg rhodiola and 100mg eleuthero are used to balance and promote healthy adrenal system responses.

Copaiba oil

While the formula does support the CBD-endocannabinoid system, it does so without the need for hemp-derived ingredients.

So how do you promote a healthy stress response via the CBD-endocannabinoid system, without actually using hemp-derived ingredients? Copaiba oil. Cannabinoid receptors are regulated by endocannabinoids, but can also be manipulated by outside influences, such as phytocannabinoids.

Copaiba, which is derived from the resin of the copaiba tree in the tropics of South America, contains high levels of Beta Caryophyllene (BCP), a phytocannabinoid which only interacts with the CB2 receptors.

Like CBD, copaiba oil activates the CB2 receptors. On the other hand, CB1 receptors are associated with the psychoactive, neuromodulatory and analgesic effects due to THC activation. CB1 is mostly expressed in the brain, adipocytes, hepatocytes and musculoskeletal tissues. CB2 receptors are associated with anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects, sans psychoactive effects. CB2 interacts with the cells at the nervous system level and is responsible for things like pain management, inflammation and mood.

Yas told NutraIngredients-USA that consumer awareness of copaiba oil is not as high as it should be.

“With increasing numbers of consumers adopting CBD oil and other hemp-derived solutions, copaiba is worth considering. It offers many of the same benefits, but is typically better tolerated than hemp-derived products,” she added.
