“We wanted to reach egamers and the esports category because we noticed that those guys really have very specific needs such as focus, attention, reaction time, really specific needs to go into those games and into esports,” said Christel Lemaire, marketing manager at Microphyt.
Lemaire explained that the company wanted to focus on a solution for cognitive function for the egamer population.
“We did a great clinical study on our extract of microalgae. We saw amazing results on cognitive enhancement, cognitive function enhancement, short term and long term memory increasing our. It also decreases anxiety, stress and those guys are really tense when they are going into competition. So yes, we thought that it could be a perfect match for egamers to develop ingredients for them.”
Microphyt isn’t stopping at esports. The ingredient firm said their next offering will be a broader offering.
“We are currently developing new products to go into sports nutrition and active lifestyle, [focused] more on recovery and endurance,” noted LeMaire. “It's really early stages, we are currently developing and looking at the market, just getting inside and to see how we could do the best ingredients for this kind of category.”
