The acquisition intends to strengthen Barentz’ presence in Czech Republic, especially in the human nutrition market as well as the personal care segment.
Barentz also believe the acquisition will extend its local network of logistic centres and application laboratories. No financial details of the deal were disclosed.

Further agreement terms
Further terms of the agreement will see ACE Trade CZ continue to operate under its own name and entity for a limited period of time.
Activities will be integrated into the Barentz CZ operations over the coming six months, whilst the current ACE Trade management oversees a smooth transition.
The acquisition is the latest in a series of agreements that has seen the firm strengthen its presence in certain European market segments.
In March, Barentz acquired Unipex, a French distributor of life science ingredients and specialty chemicals boosting its presence in France and its current European network.
In the same month, Barentz also acquired Distribuciones Industriales Variadas, a Central America distributor of life science ingredients and specialty chemicals.
The deal also included in-house laboratories and technical service teams that add to Barentz' global network of over 30 laboratories across four continents.
Barentz business
Based in the Netherlands, Barentz’s ingredient offerings include animal proteins, fibres, hydrocolloids, minerals, starches & starch derivatives, sweeteners & sugars, and vitamins.
The firm’s application laboratories provide pre-workout formulations that can be fortified with vitamin premix, guarana extracts and panax ginseng root A post-workout formulation is also available.
Other sports nutrition products available include protein shake formulations to support muscle growth and repair, protect the immune system, provide energy, affect satiety, glycemic control, and high and/or low-caloric meal replacers.
The firm also specialise in concepts to address malnutrition. Barentz’s healthy ageing range include rice puddings, soups, fruity smoothies and hot, in-between products (pancakes, omelettes and mashed potatoes).
