Probiota 2022: Setting the scene and agenda on day one
Making a swift return as a F2F event, NutraIngredients is excited to bring the very latest in cutting-edge science, business strategy, and key regulatory developments in the microbiome, probiotic and prebiotic markets.
Hosted by NutraIngredients’ very own Stephen Daniells, the show takes a magnifying glass to all things microbiome-related, what areas are growing, and in which direction.
Stephen will be aided by some of the industry’s most prominent thought leaders and business heads, each with unique first-hand experience to share of the challenges as well as rewards that lay ahead.
These special guests set the scene for day one and include Asbjørn Overgaard, CEO of Copenhagen Capacity, Professor Patrice Cani, Research Director of FNRS-WELBIO and Pierre Déchelotte, Chief of the Division of Nutrition at Rouen University Hospital and Co-founder of TargEDys.
Probiotics and AI
Dr Kimmo Makinen rounds off the first set of presentations with a talk entitled, “Challenges in the discovery of probiotics and how AI could change the game.”
Dr Makinen, the Innovation Director of Novozymes OneHealth will discuss the need to understand host physiology via the analysis of large quantities of omics data that can uncover underlying health conditions.
It may also reveal target population heterogeneity leading to opportunities to develop better targeted solutions. The physiological opportunities should be superimposed on insight from AI.
The day’s proceedings culminate in a panel discussion, that asks, “Gut microbiome modulation for weight management – silver bullet or red herring?
Chaired by Stephen, the panel will discuss the understanding of the microbiome and the role it plays in weight management.
The panel will attempt to explain what we know and where the knowledge gaps are. Also, how are these effects measured and can emerging technologies be leveraged to speed up R&D.
Meet and mingle
The day finishes on a high as interacting becomes the main theme with the Scientific Frontiers, Probiota Pioneers and Fermented Food Showcase rounding off the day’s proceedings.
This is your chance to meet and mingle with fellow delegates whilst sampling a range of fermented food and drink in the fermented food showcase.
A range of posters are available to view that have been submitted to our Scientific Frontiers display.
Selected by our Scientific Committee the posters will present cutting edge findings in the fields of pre and probiotics and microbiome research.
