Probiota 2022: Middle day for metabolites and making friends!
With around five weeks to go before the start of Probiota, NutraIngredients thought it best to provide you with a rundown of what you can expect each day of this three-day microbiome extravaganza.

Key discussion areas for day two include the global e-commerce market for probiotics, postbiotics, metabolites and the metabolome and the gut microbiome-gut-brain axis.

As usual, 2022 spaces are filling up fast... make sure you register your place for free on the event website and join us once again for a three-day exploration of the probiotic, prebiotic and microbiome space.

With the full programme now finalised and available to view, the next step is to choose which of the sessions you’d like to attend and make your interest known before it's too late!

We’ve already provided you with a taster of what to expect for day one but the industry is really out in force for day two as big names set to take part on the middle day include Chr Hansen, Deerland Probiotics & Enzymes and Ferring Pharmaceuticals. Will you be joining them?

Chair of day two

Ewa Hudson
Ewa Hudson, Director of Insights, Lumina Intelligence is your Chair for day two of Probiota

Chairing the day’s proceedings, Ewa Hudson, Director of Insights, Lumina Intelligence, will introduce the first speaker, Briana Kozlowicz, Microbiome Program Manager at Cargill.

Her presentation, entitled “Postbiotics, Metabolites and the Metabolome” looks at postbiotic’s fortunes on the back of a recent definition published this year by the International Scientific Association for Probiotics and Prebiotics (ISAPP).

This presentation will cover how the identity, modes of action, and benefits of postbiotics are intricately tied to a discussion of metabolites.

Kozlowicz will emphasise that the study of the host metabolome is important in screening new postbiotics and determining their function in providing good health.

The day continues in the same vein as Marta Tortajada Serra, VP of Science & Technology for Health & Wellness at ADM shares her view that postbiotics are the new frontier in microbiome solutions.

According to Serra, innovation in pre, pro and postbiotics are key to support holistic wellbeing in the microbiome space.

ADM has employed unique preclinical models as well as "-omics" technologies, to select, characterise and validate flagship dual pro and postbiotic probiotic strains, both as living and inanimate but still biologically active forms.

Due to not being affected by traditional manufacturing hurdles such as heat and moisture like live probiotics, postbiotics potential in the dietary supplement and functional food and beverage categories is virtually limitless.

Networking & roundtables

Speed networking

The day is not all about speakers and presentations. Attendees will have the chance to undertake a session of speed networking

Here’s an opportunity to grow your network with a series of four-minute meetings with your fellow attendees.

Introduce yourself to a new contact every time you hear the signal and find out if you’ve got mutual interests that would make a subsequent, more in-depth meeting worthwhile.

The networking theme continues into the afternoon with our series of roundtable lunches. Discuss the issues that matter most to you.

Tables will be hosted by an expert from industry or academia who will lead an informal discussion on an industry hot topic. Join the table that suits you best, subject to availability.

Entitled “Building the complex roadmap of gut-brain research,” the presentation, will discuss the fundamental mechanisms behind the growing understanding of gut-brain interactions and how scientists go from lab studies into in vivo models to build hypotheses.

The talk will also discuss the end game of clinical evidence, what the industry already has, and the directions firms plan to go.

This is just a taster of what the NutraIngredients team have got lined up for you for day two of Probiota.

Industry names, top-level speakers, networking sessions galore! Mark 28 - 30 March on your calendar as the days the industry’s main event is back!
