MyLab Nutrition Group becomes the latest company to obtain the Friend of the Sea (FOS) certification that hails the Italian firm’s efforts to promote sustainability of its marine ingredients-based products.

The accreditation gives MyLab permission to feature the FOS eco-label on its products, a move which MyLab says was to “safeguard the marine environment, while at the same time providing a product of the highest purity.”

MyLab Nutrition Group, a company based in Rome, is behind four popular supplement brands, Nutracle, Suprapet, T-Rex Supplements and MyLab Nutrition.

The brands offer a range of sports nutrition, health and wellness and weight control products that use ingredients such as Omega-3 fatty acids, Borage oil (Borago Officinalis L.) and collagen.

“MyLab has also chosen to respect very high-quality standards using the best raw materials,” the firm say in a statement.

“The production laboratories go far beyond the basic quality standards to allow the customer a conscious and totally safe purchase choice.

“The Ministry of Health are notified of all formulations to ensure maximum transparency.”

Other food and nutrition firms that have received recognition from the International marine certifiers include seaExpert for its sustainable seaweed production used in supplements and cosmetics.

FOS also accredited the world’s first non-marine source of long-chain omega-3 fatty acids in a show of confidence for its producers Nuseed Nutritional back in March.

Last year, Norway-based Calanus AS were certified for its efforts to promote sustainability of its omega-3 enriched-products.

Commenting on MyLab’s induction to the group, Paolo Bray, director and founder of FOS and Friend of the Earth adds, “We are proud to be able to certify the products of another company that strongly believes in sustainability and the importance of preserving the future of the planet.”
