Located in Buk, around 300km west of Warsaw, the facility ‘Buk2’ will specialise in premix manufacturing for Early Life Nutrition along with applications for the Medical Nutrition and Nutrition Improvement markets.
Able to produce of a wide range of batch sizes, the plant is also designed to reduce the environmental footprint of the premix production by utilising renewable energy and minimising waste and water usage.
“We built Buk2 to enable us to continue to partner with customers to create high-quality, customised products with purpose – even under the most stringent regulations – from concept to consumer,” says Philip Eykerman, President Human Nutrition & Health at DSM.
“This is an important step in our journey to providing the right nutrients that every generation needs for a healthier, brighter future.”
Customised blends
DSM currently make available customised blends of functional ingredients such as vitamins, minerals, amino acids, nutraceuticals, prebiotics and fibres in one single homogenous premix.
Upgrades to the facility includes four new dedicated premix production lines as well as new advanced mixing technology added to the facility to help develop tailored formulas for a range of applications.
Ideally located to serve markets across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, the Buk site opened back in August 2018, where the investment was expected to double production output at the site by 2020.
“This large investment in the expansion of our Buk facility in Poland highlights DSM’s ambitions in the premix market to grow with our customers by delivering purpose-led and high-quality premix solutions,” adds Michel Meertens, Vice President Operations, Global DSM Nutritional Products.
“Globally, we are continuously investing in growth and in our facilities to improve their environmental footprint and better serve our customers.”
