Informed Sport makes available a new mobile app that allows users to quickly determine whether a sports nutrition product has been certified to ensure it does not contain a prohibited or harmful substance.

The app, now available for iOS and Android, uses barcode scanning technology that allows supplement users to access product information, including certification status and approved batch/lot numbers.

“We are excited to introduce the Informed Sport mobile app to athletes and supplement users around the world,” says Paul Klinger, Business Development Director of the INFORMED brands.

“Certified products are now more accessible by allowing users to search for supplements using their mobile device.

“Not only can users scan a barcode to confirm a product is certified, but they can also easily search for products using many of the search filtering options.

Supporting training & goals

“No matter their location in the world or their supplement needs, users can easily find certified products for them. This will be a key resource for anyone looking to use safer products to support their training or nutrition goals.”

Informed Sport remains one of the premier sports nutrition certification programs that is recognised globally, with its quality mark on packaging demonstrating that the product has gone through a series of tests to ensure it is free of substances prohibited in sport

Run by the UK-based life science firm LGC, the program also runs a tight ship regarding quality control, ensuring the product was made in an environment appropriate for the stringent demands of sports nutrition manufacturing.

With this new app, its makers hope to additionally reassure core supplement users, which include competitive athletes, military personnel, and those leading active lifestyles, that identifying the safe, approved products is now made more convenient.

Feature-packed

Other features of the app includes a product search feature, in which users can search for regional availability, brand name, performance goal, product formulation and product type.

Users can also  share certified product pages with others via email, text message or social media, a useful tool for athletes who often consult with nutrition professionals before using supplements.

The Informed Sport app for iOS and Android is available to download here.
