The Roquette Beauté Expertise Center is to be based in Paris and will open next month in plans that the French firm hope will cement their standing as, “B2B experts in plant-based ingredients for cosmetics”.
“We are very excited to open and to soon welcome our customers and partners in our first Expertise Center,” comments Bénédicte Courel, general manager of the cosmetics business at Roquette.
“Working together in an inspiring and innovative space will enable us to meet the complex and versatile demands of consumers.”
The centre represents the culmination of two years work in which the firm has seen the launch of its new product range, branded “Beauté by Roquette,” back in March 2018.
The facility boasts a floor plan of 600 square metres that integrates the latest equipment, an application laboratory, an auditorium for interactive and creative thinking and R&D laboratories and offices.
360° lab cams
The jewel in the crown is the centre’s testing facilities with a dedicated area for sensorial analysis where lab results and prototypes can be evaluated by different panels of consumers.
Other technology housed in the centre includes 360° laboratory cameras to formulate live with Beauté by Roquette ingredients and online with formulator teams worldwide.
According to Courel, Roquette Beauté has expanded its footprint, with a presence now in Europe, North America and Asia, where the firm has since developed 20 brand new plant-based ingredients.
These include, Beauté by Roquette Succinic acid (SA) 130, a solution for acne-prone skin and an efficient alternative to salicylic acid.
Roquette also make available Beauté by Roquette PO 500, a microbiota-balancing isosorbide solution that prevents bad breath (halitosis), biofilm formation, infections and dental caries. It also acts as a strong humectant & moisturising agent, providing a long-lasting skin or hair hydration.
An ambitious strategy
In March last year, the firm outlined its strategy to become recognised experts in plant-based cosmetic ingredients in which its management vowed within five years, 50% of its product portfolio for the Cosmetics market would be made up of new ingredients and solutions that do not yet exist.
The firm also took steps to reinforce its strategic partnership with Sytheon, an innovative USA-based specialty ingredient company for the personal care market.
“Sytheon is very proud of this partnership with Roquette, a global player in plant-based ingredients with a team of dedicated business people and driven by a green vision of the future,” said François Marchio, managing director and co-founder of Sytheon, at the time.
“Roquette’s strengths in sustainable innovation combined with Sytheon’s expertise in developing high performance active ingredients for skin care products will benefit the personal care brands, seeking perceivable value for the consumers with no compromise on quality and safety requirements.”
Speaking about the opening of the new facility, Courel adds, “This new milestone is key to continue to reinforce our collaboration with our customers and partners and to address the increasing consumers demand for innovative, high performing and natural-based formulations”.
