Chaired by Nick Morgan, founder of Sports Integrated, Wednesday’s line up kicks off with a one-on-one interview with Robert Walker, Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of Belgium manufacturers Aminolabs.
The interview with Robert will discuss the relevance of performance and recovery to consumers at a time where demands are changing, and customer profiles are no longer as clear cut.
Robert will draw upon his experience in product development to outline the factors he thinks a brand has to understand in order to remain relevant to a core consumer and/or target the new consumer.
In his current role as CCO of Aminolabs, Robert works with major sports nutrition brands to develop products that help drive forward the key concepts of active nutrition and healthy snacking.
Robert is then followed by Frank Engel, global market development manager at Rousselot Health & Nutrition and Jeroen Wouters, innovation manager, sports & nutrition at the Dutch Olympic Training Center.
Optimum formulations
The co-presenters will outline how professional athletes can extract the most from collagen peptides, from selecting optimum application and formulations to drawing upon experiences of other athletes, who supplement their diets with this bioactive ingredient.
The presentation will also look to discuss market trends as well as the science behind collagen peptides’ ability to promote recovery rounding off with a section devoted to how product makers can formulate collagen peptide-based products to achieve maximum adoption.
Over the coming weeks, NutraIngredients' online event series will look at how the sports nutrition market is evolving and how market trends are playing a role in its development both pre and post COVID-19.
The series got off to a solid start as industry experts gathered to discuss the biggest news stories of the past year. This set the scene for what will follow and is now available to view for FREE.
The Performance & Recovery session continues as James Hudson, performance nutritionist and recovery sports scientist at Gloucester Rugby (UK), takes time out to offer his perspective in promoting recovery in elite sport.
Entitled, ‘An applied perspective on - keeping the athlete healthy,’ James’ thoughts extend to the processes energy stores, damaged muscle tissue, and rehydration follow in the recovery and repair process.
James will also discuss how athlete health impacts performance as well as nutritional strategies to positively impact athlete immunity, joint health, and sleep to maximise recovery from collision sport.
Building an optimal portfolio
The collagen theme continues as Suzane Leser, director of nutrition communication at Gelita takes to the stage with a presentation offering advice on building an optimal sports & active nutrition portfolio
“It is impossible not to notice that collagen continues to make the headlines, with “sales skyrocketing” and high-profile acquisitions taking place, thanks to its many applications,” says Leser.
“Gelita expertise is to differentiate and to stand out, and in this summit presentation we share our top tips to maximise the collagen opportunity in your sports & active nutrition portfolio, while meeting real target consumers’ needs, from the elite athlete to the everyday active nutrition consumer.”
The Performance & Recovery session rounds off with a panel discussion, in which Nick Morgan gathers the presenters for a discussion on industry trends, consumer dynamics, supply chain and research to establish what this actually means to the sports nutrition industry.
At a time of significant change, Nick will ask how the industry can continue to produce great products that target clear consumer needs and enable the communication of great stories to fuel those interested in a healthy and exercise focused lifestyle.
