The nutrition industry has seen a wave of appointments and departures at ingredients suppliers, manufactures and producers. NutraIngredients presents a round up of the key moves in the EMEA region.

Effective from 1 June, Firmenich welcomes Boet Brinkgreve as the firm’s new president of ingredients. Brinkgreve, whose has previously worked for DuPont, will continue to report directly to Firmenich CEO, Gilbert Ghostine, as a member of the company's executive committee.

Firmenich also sees Jean-Philippe Lebudel step into the role of chief supply chain officer, succeeding Boet Brinkgreve and reporting into Eric Nicolas, chief operating officer.

The firm’s management shake-up continues effective July 1st, with the appointment of Gianluca Colombo as chief procurement officer, to lead strategic sourcing, procurement and supplier collaboration for Firmenich worldwide, reporting to Boet Brinkgreve.

“Boet has an outstanding track record of driving strategic growth at Firmenich since 2007 and has made operations a key differentiator for the Group,” says Gilbert Ghostine, CEO of Firmenich.

“I am confident he will accelerate our excellence in natural, biotech, biodegradable and renewable ingredients for our customers and their consumers."

Algaia’s new CEO

In other appointments, marine-derived product developer Algaia announces Frederic Faure, one of the co-founders of the company, as the new Chief Executive Officer of the group from June 1, 2020.

Frédéric Faure replaces Fabrice Bohin who remains a shareholder and member of the board of administration, while becoming the new Diana Food president within Symrise Nutrition.

Faure comes with a breadth of experience having held senior positions at Cargill and Evonik. He joined Algaia in 2016 and oversaw the creation of the R&D centre in Saint Lô, Normandy, France.

“The company is entering a new era. Its main challenges lie now in meeting the growth in demand and increasing its production capacities for both Alginates and Biostimulants,” says Bohin.

“It now needs a general management with a stronger industrial background, located in the immediate vicinity of its production site.

“I am handing over to Frederic who will benefit from a very experienced management team capable of taking Algaia to the next level.”
