The global bovine colostrum market’s value stood at $2.6 billion in 2019, according to Transparency Market Research. With immune support front and center the current time, the market is expected to reach $4.3 billion by 2027.
There are currently over 6,000 studies highlighting the science of bovine colostrum and new clinical cohorts being conducted every year to explore its applications for human health.
To discuss some of this research, the colostrum market and more, George Stagnitti joined the NutraCast. Stagnitti is the EVP of research and development at Pantheryx, which specializes in colostrum research and harvesting.
Stagnitti said that colostrum is on the cusp of great expansion in terms of utility and its application. He said that as we sit today, the top segments are immune and digestive health. Looking ahead, “Early life nutrition, and the value and benefit that colostrum brings to that segment of the population, will be, I think, an explosive area of growth for the future. And then furthering that into the food & beverage category, so as we look at things like nutritional bars or yogurts or other products that you might typically look to find a health benefit, colostrum will be front and center in those applications as well.”
Colostrum has a number of benefits for young and old, from building an effective immune system, to protecting a baby’s stomach and intestines from germs, to supporting a healthy gut microbiome and providing important nutrients.
