New for 2019, Aldi is rolling out Loaded Yorkshire Puddings (£2.99, 396g).
These individual mini Yorkshire puddings, topped with a British pork, sage & onion stuffing ball and finished with a pig in blanket offer 'Christmas dinner in just one mouthful', according to the retailer.
"They are perfect as a Christmas side dish or canape and are sure to ‘wow’ your guests.
"What’s more, the Loaded Yorkshire Puddings are Red Tractor approved, so you can rest easy knowing you and your dinner guests are getting the best quality meat, but at the everyday amazing Aldi prices we all love."
UK-based company K’s Wors has released an updated version of the classic pigs in blankets festive treat using spicy traditional South African sausages called ‘boerewors’.
UK supermarket Ocado is offering three flavours of boerewors – Countrystyle, Chakalaka, and Chilli – in packs of 400g (RSP £5).
K’s Wors said that pigs in blankets, historically made with Cumberland sausages, were due a makeover.
K’s Wors co-founder Dee Mapasure said: “I’ve felt for some while that boerewors could work wonderfully in conjunction with best-in-class bacon. For the last two years, boerewors have been building a head of steam during BBQ season. It was only ever going to be a matter of time before boerewors gate-crashed the Great British Winter.”
Protein snack producer Nibble is releasing high protein, lower sugar gingerbread bites for the Christmas season.
This latest addition to the Nibble Protein snacking range blends traditional flavours into protein bites that, the company said, contain 30% less sugar than most standard all-natural protein bars and balls on the market.
The bites are based on a traditional Swedish recipe, which uses a blend of ground ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves, and are topped with chopped almonds.
Nibble Protein Bites Gingerbread contain 21% protein, less than 1g of sugar per serving and under 100 calories per bag. They are also a good source of iron, potassium, magnesium and vitamins K and A.
The bites are vegan friendly, gluten-free and made from an allergen-free, sustainable ‘slow digesting’ pea protein, along with gluten-free oats, coconut nectar and an antioxidant-rich dried plum puree.
Available online, on Amazon and through independent retailers across the UK for an RRP of £1.49 per bag.
Nim’s, the air-dried fruit and vegetable crisp manufacturer, has launched a limited edition range of festive crisps to celebrate the countdown to Christmas.
The new Christmas flavours are Beet & Butt – an earthy combination of beetroot and rich sweet butternut squash; and Bubble & Squeak – a Christmas classic made with parsnip, beetroot and Brussels sprout crisps. These will be available in share bag size, making them ideal for sharing and parties, said Nim's.
