True Health Initiative, a global coalition of health experts, partners with Prebiotin
All too often, research is repackaged into a story to catch a reader’s attention, rather than focusing on facts. For instance, probiotics, red meat and fish oil have beared the brunt of bad headlines in recent weeks.
True Health Initiative is “a global coalition of world renown experts, fighting fake facts and combating false doubts to create a world free of preventable diseases, using the time-honored, evidence-based, fundamentals of lifestyle and medicine.” The organization added that they "encourage learning and understanding based on the overall weight of scientific evidence and not necessarily the latest study or sensational headline."
Cutting through the noise
THI hopes to curb misleading headlines and false reports that they say are a result of competing agendas and motivations, by bringing in leading experts together to review research. "You get a seemingly disparate group that never agrees on anything, to actually say to the world, in a single unified voice, 'we agree,'" said THI founder and president, David L. Katz, MD, MPH.
The organization has a variety of partners, such as non-profits NutritionFacts.org and The Olive Wellness Institute, as well as for-profits like Whole foods Market and Acap Health.
Science-backed truth
THI’s latest corporate partnership, announced today, is with Prebiotin Prebiotic Fiber. "We have a lot in common with an organization that promotes fundamental, evidence-based truths about lifestyle and health," says F. Wilson Jackson, MD, medical director for Prebiotin.
"At Prebiotin, we also provide vetted information about improving gut health with fiber rich foods and Prebiotin to help decrease disease risk.”
Anne Mercer Larson, director of strategic initiatives, marketing & public relations, Prebiotin, told NutraIngredients-USA that Prebiotin currently has several studies underway and they look forward to sharing their findings with True Health Initiative.
True Health Initiative has over 500 experts available for quotes, fact checking, or insight into a topic or article. The council is active, from evaluating the latest scientific headlines to petitioning the FDA and USDA to adopt a new definition of protein quality so public health policies move to a more plant-based approach.
