The Spanish firm emerged as the winner in the hotly-contested category with its product Affron® EYE.
It is a saffron-based ingredient standardised to 3% crocins and has been clinically proven in preventing age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
Speaking to NutraIngredients-Asia, Imke Marks, commercial director of the firm, said that while Europe was its largest market, Asia has presented “the most exciting new projects”.
At present, the firm supplies its ingredients to clients in Japan, Taiwan, with upcoming projects in South East Asian countries, such as Malaysia and Taiwan.
