Our teams of journalists were out in force at Probiota last week. We’ve picked out some of our highlights from a packed programme of talks on industry insights that showcase the best of all things microbiome-related.

Key to the event's continued success is the expertise and work conducted by the event’s Scientific Committee. One of its members is Jessica Terhaar, scientific director at the International Probiotics Assoiation (IPA).

NutraIngredients spoke to Jessica as she gave a unique insight into her role, its importance in Probiota’s success and the future of microbiome and gut-health research and product development.

Now in its sixth year, Probiota played out to a sold out auditorium in Copenhagen as highlights included an afternoon exploring the Microbiome through the lifestages with speakers including Prof Tine Rask Licht and Prof Dennis Sandris Nielsen and Ewa Hudson.

The emergence of ‘Big Data’, population studies and personalisation was the focus for day two. Here questions posed include how and what could be learned from this data and how would this impact the understanding of the microbiome?

The Future Focus Workshop rounded off day three that new for this year included a fully interactive session with discussions and live audience polling.
