The partnership, agreed at the end of last month, will see DSM work with Basel’s sports science team advising first team players on health and nutrition as well as make available the firm’s vitamin and dietary supplements.
“We are delighted to make our proven expertise in nutritional and health issues available to FC Basel and its first team going forward, said Christoph Goppelsroeder, president & CEO of DSM Nutritional Products. “We are convinced that our long-term cooperation will lead to joint success”.
Additional terms of the contract will allow the DSM logo to feature on Basel FC’s shirts for an initial period of three years.
The logo, which featured for the first time in a 1-3 defeat against BSC Young Boys last Sunday, adorns the shirts of Basel FC, which also count Novartis and Adidas as Premium partners.
“In DSM we have gained a company with a global reputation and also a strong presence in the Basel region as a partner for our club,” said Bernhard Burgener, president of Basel FC.
“We are both ambitious and have big plans. This ambition will allow us to bring the best out of one another.”
DSM’s venture into the world of professional sport also extends to cycling. The firm made available its dietary antiplatelet ingredient Fruitflow to Team Sunweb’s cyclists as part of their recovery regime and preparation for this year’s Tour de France.
