WATCH: How are digital technologies altering the nutrition industry?

Digital technologies are rapidly changing the industry operates. From e-commerce, and new routes to market, to better and more efficient supply chains … and new ways to market products – there is a seemingly endless scope for ways that smart tech and savvy companies can work hand in hand. In our latest video diary, NutraIngredients asked the industry how growing digitalisation is impacting them.

"The world is going digital," says Itay Shafat, product manager for cognitive line and sports nutrition at Frutarom Health. "We all understand it. We market digitally. We operate digitally ... and more and more supplements are bought digitally."

Meanwhile, Stephanie Mattucci, associate director of food science at Mintel says technologies have revolutionised agriculture and the way we eat, "and even the reason why we eat."

"But also, it's not just the food. Technology is also changing the way we are harvesting food."

Johnathan Jones of Monteloader noted that we are in the 'digital era', noting that 'everyone' has a digital device.

"The advantage of digital technologies is that we can actually show that products do work," he added.
