Fermentalg and DSM partnership looks to boost high potency DHA products
The French microalgae firm says the ‘ground breaking’ five-year contract will accelerate penetration of its Origins DHA-550 product line.
As part of the agreement, Fermentalg has granted exclusive rights to DSM for selling its high-potency DHA products in certain market segments.
However, the company will continue promoting its Origins DHA product range through its existing network of distributors in the USA and in Europe – notably in the growing markets of functional foods and nutritional supplements for brain, vision and cardiovascular health.
“An agreement with the uncontested world leader in nutritional lipids clearly confirms the capability of Fermentalg's DHA platform,” said Philippe Lavielle, Fermentalg's CEO.
“It will accelerate the penetration of Origins DHA-550 into the dynamic and fast-growing high potency DHA omega-3 market, with the potential of elevating Fermentalg to the top tier of the world's largest algal DHA producers.”
A spokesperson for DSM told Nutraingredients: "DSM is excited to partner with Fermentalg in bringing to the market high potency DHA products. This addresses a growing consumer demand for higher DHA intakes and smaller pill sizes."
