New TCM collaboration will bring more Chinese remedies to European market

A new collaboration between SU BioMedicine and Diapharm will drive growth in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in Europe by managing the registration and marketing of high quality Chinese products in Europe.

The strategic collaboration agreement between global consultancy group Diapharm and TNO spin-outSU BioMedicine will help to bring traditional Chinese herbal remedies to the EU market faster and will help them to become more widespread, said the firms.

Both companies have already been managing marketing authorisation processes for Traditional Chinese Medicines (TCM) in European countries. Together, they will become the leading party for registration and distribution of TCM in Europe.

"Dedicated to the improvement of health care, SU BioMedicine is proud to have Diapharm as strategic partner to accelerate the introduction of high quality products … into the European market,” said SU BioMedicine CEO Jan van der Greef, PhD.

In 2012 SU BioMedicine was the first company to bring a Chinese remedy to the EU market under the Traditional Herbal Medicinal Products (THMP) guidelines, which are set out to assure the highest level of quality in production and safety for herbal products.

Ralf Sibbing, general manager of Diapharm said the partnership will bring ‘new choices’ for consumers in Europe.

“At the same time, it creates added value to our long term expertise in herbal medicine registration,” he added.
