NutraIngredients launches independent industry awards in 2015

Geneva will play host to the inaugural NutraIngredients Awards next May – bringing real reward and industry-wide recognition to the best ingredient, product and research innovators in Europe.

We’ll celebrate seven award winners during the week of Vitafoods with a gala evening in Geneva on May 6 where the proud European industry can come together and hail the very best – from market leading products to game-changing research to the hottest ingredients.

Hotly contested

“The inaugural NutraIngredients Awards are not only an excellent opportunity to reward innovation and initiative, but also to involve our highly authoritative readership in the process”, said Graham Twyford, head of food division for EMEA/APAC.

“With a digital community of over 320,000 industry stakeholders, we have no doubt that the NutraIngredients ‘Readers’ Ingredient of the Year’ will be hotly contested along with the other six categories.”

“We are particularly pleased to have Vitafoods Europe and Finished Products Europe involved and associated with two of the award categories. Given that Vitafoods Europe/Finished Products Europe will be taking place just a 10 minute walk from the awards venue, we look forward to hosting a prestigious, sociable and entertaining evening for all concerned.”

We have pulled together a panel of experts from academia and industry led by Joerg Gruenwald to judge the awards. The full list of awards is:

  • Finished Product of the Year – Sport & Energy
  • Finished Product of the Year – Immune
  • Finished Product of the Year – Heart & Brain
  • Readers’ Ingredient of the Year (sponsored by Vitafoods Europe 2015)
  • University Research of the Year
  • Startup Ingredient of the Year
  • Editor’s Choice Award (in association with Finished Products Europe 2015)

“NutraIngredients, and our publisher William Reed Business Media, are proud and excited to get behind a set of genuinely independent awards that will mark out and reward genuine leadership at the healthy end of the food industry and in food supplements,” said NutraIngredients senior editor, Shane Starling.

“After all, this sector continues to outperform the mainstream food industry and is often the place of the greatest innovation so it is time that hard work and concept-busting invention was rewarded. We look forward to seeing industry's best at the event in Geneva on the 6th.”

There’ll be more details about that submission and award criteria in the coming days and on the event website. Submissions open on December 1 and close on February 6.
