'It's business as usual': Davisco Foods on Agropur takeover

It's "business as usual" at Minnesota-based cheese and whey ingredients manufacturer Davisco Foods following its recent takeover by Canadian dairy cooperative Agropur.

DariyReporter.com caught up with Polly Olson, vice president of business development, Davisco Foods International, following her presentation, Opportunities and Challenges in the Market for Whey Proteins, at the International Whey Conference (IWC) in Rotterdam earlier this week.

Closing her 20 minute presentation to nearly 700 attendees, Olson said that partnerships will be key to ensure the supply of whey keeps up with demand.

Pressed for information on Davisco's partnership plans under Agropur ownership, Olson said: "I don't know anything that would be in the cards."

Agropur completed its acquisition of family-owned Davisco Foods in August 2014 for an undisclosed fee.

"It's business as usual until we hear any further," Olson told DairyReporter.com.

"But we look forward to working with them because their line actually compliments our product line very nicely."
