Getting on with it: How a big US supplements maker adapts to major EU law changes

US-based foods and supplements manufacturer, Now International, hasn’t sat on its hands since the EU’s new health claim laws kicked into play in 2008 – taking pre-emptive action to keep abreast of the new formulation and health claims landscape.

European account manager, Morgan Coghill, told us at Vitafoods recently of some of the company’s moves to keep its 800 food supplement products ‘above the line’.

“Since the health claims regulation came into effect in 2008 we have joined local trade groups to review our labelling, review our formulations,” he said.

“We try to keep on top of the laws as they change and we’ve been implementing change in our own internal processes to make our products more global and so we can consult to the widest range of countries possible.”

“Sometimes it can get a little confusing but we are trying the best we can.”
