LycoRed overcomes vitamin B ‘challenge’ to develop odorless microencapsulates
Israel-based company LycoRed has overcome the challenge of creating an odorless vitamin B microencapsulate with its latest nutricosmetic product designed to help maintain the vitality of hair and nails.

Through advanced microencapsulation technology, the company developed its nutricosmetics formulations based on vitamin B complex and amino acids and believes that through this method ‘it is possible to mask negative odors and tastes in beauty-from-within products.’

The biggest challenge with vitamin B is being able to offer an odorless product. LycoRed has now overcome that challenge,” says company spokesperson Karina Bedrack.

Why so important?

Consumers are looking for a simple solution to supplement their diets.”

As our skin, hair and nails are constantly growing and renewing, we need to provide the adequate nutrition to our body, especially vitamins such as thiamin (vitamin B1), riboflavin (vitamin B2) and biotin, plus choline, to maintain and recover hair and nails.

According to LycoRed, vitamin B complex is essential for correct RNA and DNA synthesis and cell reproduction. However, combining different nutrients with diverse organoleptic properties in dietary supplements is not always easy, due to undesired aromas or flavors, such as with vitamin B1, methionine etc.

Therefore, the company says "it is essential to use microencapsulation technology for these ingredients in order to mask the unwanted aspects.”

LycoRed supplies natural carotenoids and a wide range of other natural nutritional and coloring ingredients to the dietary supplement, functional food & beverage and nutricosmetic industries worldwide.

Beauty From Within

Last October, the Cosmetics Design teamed up with its sister publication NutraIngredients to host the second Beauty From Within Conference in Paris.

The conference addressed the challenges behind the education and marketing of nutricosmetics to consumers as well as covering scientific validation, new product forms and categories and exploring how to overcome the current regulation confusion.
