DSM to showcase Fruitflow at HIE
DSM Nutritional Products is bringing a heart health-targeted tomato extract into the limelight for the first time at the Health Ingredients Europe trade show in Madrid, Spain this year.
DSM licenses the ingredient called Fruitflow from UK start-up Provexis and is capitalising on the fact Fruitflow is to date the only nutrient to win a positive, proprietary science, article 13.5 claim from the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).
“Fruitflow fits well with our nutritional ingredients portfolio – it has strong science-backed evidence and targets one of the chief areas of concern for consumers – heart health,” said Will Black, vice president of new nutritional ingredients at DSM Nutritional Products.
The EU-approved claim for Fruitflow tomato extract states: “Helps maintain normal platelet aggregation, which contributes to healthy blood flow.”
