UK FSA announces post-merger reshuffle

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has announced a reshuffle of personnel following its merger with the Meat Hygiene Service (MHS), creating two senior job opportunities.

Two long-serving directors have decided to leave the FSA giving the organisation the opportunity to clarify the distinction between its policy and operations activities.

After five successful years leading the consumer choice and dietary health group, Gill Fine has decided to retire from the agency in April 2010. Andrew Wadge has asked to relinquish the role of Director of Food Safety and will concentrate on his work as chief scientist, working three days a week, effective from April 2010.

To combine these policy areas into one directorate, a new post – director of policy – has been created to oversee all policy development. The FSA will also be advertising for a new director of operations to look after its new operations group. Both positions are expected to be advertised in the Sunday Times on 29 November.
