DSM launched PeptoPro in 2004, in cooperation with the Dutch Olympic team, and has had niche success with the offering, but no product has moved solidly in the mainstream.
The new link, with myprotein.co.uk, gives the website exclusive rights to retail PeptoPro online.
“Over the last two years we have seen a significant increase in the awareness of PeptoPro at the customer and consumer level in mainland Europe, South Africa and the US,” Jacob Bauly, market development manager for PeptoPro said.
“Our main focus moving forward is to duplicate this success in other markets, and Myprotein’s leading position in the UK makes them the perfect partner with which to execute this strategy.”
Myprotein.co.uk is five-years-old and was recently short listed for the finals of the National Business Awards Small to Medium Size Business of the Year.
It receives about 10,000 unique visitors per day day and has something like 150,000 registered consumers.
PeptoPro powder is a formulation of di and tri-peptides made from casein hydrolysate, which helps increase endurance and a quick recovery after intense training.
It works by promoting the transport of sugars into muscle tissue and stimulates the synthesis of muscle protein after heavy exercise.
PeptoPro is used as an ingredient in a wide variety of products, including powdered and RTD sports beverages and gels for endurance, recovery and muscle growth.
As part of its Olympic initiative, DSM continues to work with the Dutch Olympic Team, as well as sponsoring a number of individual athletes.
At the Beijing Olympics it supplyied 20,000 servings of the powdered form of its PeptoPro, which it developed in partnership with the Dutch Olympic Committee/Dutch Sports Federation (NOC/NSF).
In collaboration with the athletes and their coaches, DSM said it is working on innovations in the fields of nutrition and materials that could help boost the development of top level sports in general and the performances of the individual athletes in particular.
