Distribution deals drive Scandinavian supplier expansion

A Scandinavian supplier of dietary supplements, natural remedies and natural cosmetics is entering a distribution agreement to push new and existing products into Europe, with further expansion possibly ahead.

Scandinavian Clinical Nutrition (SCN) says that its cooperation with Medica Nord, which has come into immediate effect, will see the two companies become exclusive partners in distributing goods in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland.

Behind the physical distribution of its goods, SCN says that Medica Nord will also market the group’s products in the four national markets, combining its own experience in producing proprietary nutraceuticals in other countries. The company claimed that the agreement would not affect the existing prices of its products for customers.

Distribution tradition

According to a SCN spokesperson, the latest agreement continues the manufacturer’s strategy of working with distribution partners for exclusive transportation and marketing of its products. The spokesperson claims that it hopes to continue this focus across Europe to find other markets to enter.

“This landmark deal covers up to 4 products in 4 markets and is evidence that major marketing and distribution companies in Europe and around the world see value and opportunity in our scientifically documented products,” the spokesperson told NutraIngredients.com. “We welcome enquiries by other prospective distribution partners that are looking to grow their companies by adding new products.”

Under the terms of the deal, SCN says that the vast majority of its product portfolio will be made available to the newly formed Medica Nord, as well as some soon to be launched ingredients as well.

SCN says that Medica Nord will take responsibility for all investments in the countries with regards to marketing and distribution.

Medica Nord

Medica Nord was formed several months ago following the mergers of a number of Nordic distribution companies, SCN said.

With several of these merged companies already having experience in pushing the company’s products, SCN claimed the new agreement could quickly get to work in establishing sales in the individual markets.
