Centrum vitamin maker shows improvement in revenue

Maker of Centrum brand vitamins Wyeth today (Wednesday) reported an increase in global revenue for the second quarter and first half of 2004.

The Worldwide Consumer Healthcare division reported a net revenue increase of 7 percent for the second quarter and 9 percent for the first half of 2004 compared to the same period last year.

The company attributed the positive results to a number of factors including global growth in the division's core Advil, Centrum and Caltrate brands.

For example, the Centrum franchise was expanded with the launch of Centrum Carb Assist, a multivitamin/mineral supplement formulated for low carbohydrate dieters.

Overall, Wyeth's worldwide net revenue was up by 13 percent to $4.2 billion for the second quarter and by 11 percent to $8.2 billion for the first half of this year in comparison with the same periods in 2003.
