Million dollar deal signed on vitamin E
signed a million dollar deal to supply vitamin E powder to
International Specialty Botanical Products.
Boosting ground business, the open-ended contract to provide the botanical firm with high concentrate natural Vitamin E O2PT (oil to powder) follows hot on the heels of a recent agreement with Japanese firm Kenko corporation.
"This contract, together with the recently announced acceptance of Kenko corporation of Tokyo, as our exclusive Japanese distributor for the company's O2PT products should further strengthen the company's bottom line," said Godfrey Yew, president and CEO of Nutri Pharmaceuticals Research.
Under terms of the deal - valued at $1.2m - Nutri Pharmaceuticals Research will supply International Specialty Botanical Products with the monthly processing and shipment of two or more tons of vitamin E powder.
According to the US processor, its 'proprietary O2P process transforms most edible oils into a free-flowing powder form that preserves more of the natural active components than other processes'.
Applications for the powdered oils range from food ingredients to livestock feeds, nutraceuticals and cosmetics.
Research across the globe continues into the potential benefits vitamin E could have on human health. A recent study published in the December issue of Diabetes Care, carried out at the University of South Carolina suggests that eating foods which contain significant amounts of vitamin E may protect against the development of type 2 diabetes, a growing health complication in the western world.
