The plant-based cholesterol-lowering supplement Lo-Chol is to enter European markets through a new distribution agreement for Spain and Portugal.
New York-based Advanced Plant Pharmaceuticals said that its marketing partner for Lo-Chol, Nutralife Pharmaceuticals, has signed an exclusive distribution agreement with Spain's largest direct response television, catalogue and retail distribution company for the Spanish and Portugese markets.
Advanced Plant Pharmaceuticals has a patent pending process that uses whole plants to manufacture natural dietary supplements. Current products include Sinusol (homeopathic allergy and nasal spray), garlic, ACA (immune system booster) and the patented Lo-Chol.
The company claims that research found Lo-Chol lowered total cholesterol up to 29 per cent in test subjects, triglycerides by 45 per cent. It also increased HDL by 60 per cent and improved the ratio of HDL to LDL 46 per cent. The product is made of 'whole plant' parts, rather than extracts, of six plants including Cinnamomum zeylancium and Allium sativumentire.
Jeffrey Glickman, CEO of Nutralife Pharmaceuticals, said the company was also in negotiations with several other international distributors to expand Lo-Chol's availability worldwide.
The cholesterol-lowering market is estimated to be worth $30 billion worldwide.
The Spanish distributor will purchase a minimum of 100,000 units of Lo-Chol over the next twelve months for resale.
