Food ingredients companies are to discuss the challenges and opportunities posed by the current global obesity epidemic at a seminar in next month's Food Ingredients Europe show.
The open seminar, organised by Leatherhead Food International and sponsored by Palatinit, will be chaired by Professor Tom Sanders of King's College, London, a leading expert on nutrition and dietetics. Other key speakers are Dr David Mela of the Unilever Health Institute in The Netherlands and Kate Arthur, company dietitian at UK supermarket Sainsburys.
Obesity, cardiovascular disorders and diabetes are causing worldwide concern, with health officials increasingly calling on the food industry to react.
The seminar will look at possible solutions and approaches in industry, retail and nutrition consulting and how they can be communicated effectively to consumers. Industry members are asked to participate.
FiE runs from 18-20 November 2003 in Frankfurt.
