Lactoferrin production agreement for DMV

DMV International, a division of dairy giant Campina, has entered into an agreement with AgriMark, USA, for the production of its bioactive protein lactoferrin.

Lactoferrin specialist, DMV International, a division of dairy giant Campina, has entered into an agreement with AgriMark, USA, for the production of its bioactive protein lactoferrin. DMV will control the operations at the AgriMark plant and will purchase all lactoferrin produced there. "The expansion of the production capacity is in response to demand and also in anticipation of our new joint venture with Farmland National Beef", a spokesman for DMV International told NutraIngredients.com The company recently announced a joint venture with US Farmland National company to manufacture and market activated lactoferrin, a food safety technology that can protect consumers from harmful bacteria that may be found in meat. Lactoferrin, a bioactive protein manufactured from cow's milk, was introduced into infant forumulas in 1986. It is now present in a range of functional foods, sports supplements and pharmaceuticals. Health benefits attributed to the ingredient include the promotion of iron absorption, immune cell stimulation and antioxidant properties.
