Cut the cholesterol with carob supplement

market.
German supplement manufacturer Dr Wolz Zell-Hefepraparate has launched a powdered supplement to lower cholesterol onto its home market.
Cholesterinreduktion Dr Wolz contains the insoluble carob fibre Caromax, made by Nutrinova, as well as inulin, lecithin and vitamins.
The supplement, which will be distributed mainly through health food stores and pharmacies, can be sprinkled on yoghurt or muesli or mixed into fruit juice. Best known for its enzyme yeast cell preparations that boost the immune system, Dr Wolz is advising a two-week course to deliver maximum results.
Caromax is derived from the pulp of the carob fruit using a gentle extraction process. It has a high polyphenol and lignin content, a variety of antioxidative flavonoids and tannins and an 80 per cent fibre content. A small study funded by Frankfurt-headquartered Nutrinova last year, found that adults who included 15g of carob fibre daily into their normal diet for an eight-week period reduced LDL cholesterol by 12 per cent.
Caromax can also be used in nutrition bars, extruded products and dairy drinks. For more information on the ingredient, contact Graham Hall. Nutrinova also markets the sweetener Acesulfame K under the Sunett brand.
