Vitafoods moves with the times

New owners of the Vitafoods trade show have added two new areas - the Finished Products Zone, and Vitacos, dedicated to the growing cosmeceuticals market.

New owners of trade show Vitafoods IIR Exhibitions say the show has a new look to reflect the sector's rapid growth in what is estimated to be a $500 billion market.

The organisers say this year's event is set to be the biggest European show for the nutraceutical, cosmeceutical and functional food ingredients industry.

A new section, the 'Finished Products Zone', has been added, focusing on finished products suppliers. Companies such as Chocolat Bernrain, St Michaels Rica, ArcoPharma SA and Prolux International will feature in this area. There will also be a dedicated zone for companies that deal with cosmeceutical ingredients - Vitacos - which will allow visitors to explore this growing market.

Taking place on 13-15 May 2003 at Palexpo in Geneva, Vitafoods is expected to attract more than 300 exhibitors, displaying diverse ingredients from animal source substances and bioactive components, dietary fibre and fatty acids to phytochemicals and plant extracts. Leading companies including Cognis, Degussa BioActives, Kemin Foods, Loders Croklaan, ADM, Roche Vitamins and Linnea will be presenting their current products.

The three-day Vitafoods conference, organised by Leatherhead Food International, will run alongside the exhibition and will review the key scientific, marketing and regulatory developments shaping the functional foods and nutraceuticals industry. Themed sessions include Market and Regulatory, Diet and Immune System, Gut, Heart and Bone Health, Anti-Ageing, Weight and Glycaemic Control and Performance and Future Perspectives.

There will also be a new dedicated session for the supplements industry focusing particularly on regulatory developments in supplements - herbals, vitamins and minerals.

Supplier seminars will provide insight into the latest innovations in the industry in 30 minute-long presentations. Suppliers such as ADM Natural Health and Nutrition, Burdock Group, Hansen A/S, Institut Rosell Lallemand, Oscotec, Pronova Biocare AS, and Rhodia Food will be taking part in this section.
