French company Ferco Développement has completed the purchase of a former Sefcal production plant in the south of France. The purchase is expected to increase the company's production capacity by five times.

Ferco, which specialises in grape polyphenols, is currently adapting the plant and equipment to transfer its tannins, polyphenols and natural colour production to the new base. The move will meet growing demand for its products.

Marc Feries, Ferco Développement's managing director, said the purchase of the Sefcal plant, a Chr Hansen subsidiary, would enable to company to increase both production and development of new products.

Ferco markets its Grap'Active range of functional food ingredients to the nutraceutical market. The firm offers both liquid (2 and 3 UC) anthocyanic colour and microgranulated powder (12UC).
