Israel-based company Herbamed has launched Ultrasome (Emulsome), a new drug delivery technology, specifically targeted at water insoluble nutraceuticals.

Using the technology, the company has developed Emulsome-CoQ1, said to be the only highly-absorbed powdered CoQ10 with an excellent dispersion rate - Herbamed claims it achieves 100 per cent dissolution. It is covered by four US patents.

The product can also be adapted to tablets and for use in functional foods and beverages and can be combined with other ingredients.

Herbamed general manger Avraham Landa said that the new product, which is backed with clinical studies and scientific research, performed well among elderly patients. The company has also recently developed an effervescent tablet containing CoQ10.

The Emulsome technology can be adapted to other non-soluble nutraceuticals.
