Healthier cooking oil from Carolina Soy

A new patent-pending production technique is said to make Whole Harvest cooking oil one of the healthiest on the market, with high levels of omega-2 fatty acids and vitamin E.

Two new cooking oils which are said to contain higher levels of omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin E than conventional oils has been launched in the US. The Whole Harvest Culinary Oil and Whole Harvest SmartFry brands are produced by Carolina Soy Products and are said to contain no trans fatty acids (TFAs).

The company claims that a patent-pending production process allows Whole Harvest to contain high levels of omega-3 fatty acids while remaining unhydrogenated and naturally low in saturated fats. The oil is also sold at a competitive price, and is said to produce "superior-tasting food" according to independent tests conducted by Texas A&M University.

"When used properly, Whole Harvest is possibly the healthiest commercial cooking oil on the market because it contains no TFAs, which have been shown to play a key role in the development of heart disease and stroke," the company boldly claims in a press release.

The new production process employed by Carolina Soy does not involve hexane, a flammable solvent typically used to make most commercial cooking oils, and it is because of this, the company claims, that the oils are not stripped of their natural omega-3 fatty acids or vitamin E. Furthermore, it claims, the natural tocopherols left in Whole Harvest act as a powerful, natural antioxidant and preservative.
