New supplement for menopause treatment
launched in the US. The product contains black cohosh, soy and a
variety of herbs, and is being promoted as an alternative to HRT.
The wave of new natural alternatives to hormone replacement therapy (HRT) following the news that it can lead to increased risk of cancer shows no sign of abating. The latest company to jump on the bandwagon is Meta-Sure Health, a US-based supplement manufacturer, which has launched a product based on the herb black cohosh.
The new supplement, called Sure Balance, is said to relieve the symptoms of the menopause such as night sweats, hot flushes, mood swings, low energy levels and vaginal dryness.
The company said the supplement contained natural phytoestrogen - a safe alternative to the synthetic oestrogen used in some HRT treatments - as well as 40 milligrams of black cohosh extract, whose constituents mimic oestrogen in the hormonal pathways of the body.
The supplement also contains soy concentrate and 19 herbs, vitamins and nutrients such as St. John's wort, 5-HTP and taurine (all of which are mood enhancers), Panax ginseng root to help women maintain their energy levels, and Meta-Sure's proprietary SurePlex Blend, which is said to provide maximum hormonal support during menopause.
Meta-Sure produces a range of weight loss and nutritional supplements, including Meta-Sure Metagizer diet and energy enhancer, Meta-Dream night-time formula, ChitoSure fat blocker, Basic Plus multiple vitamin, Sure Energy herbal energizer, Sure Relief joint care and repair formula, Total Shield antioxidant vitamin supplement, Sure Memory 'brain maximiser' and Sure Performance male potency formula.
