Natural Alternatives International, the US manufacturer of nutritional supplements, has been granted a Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) award by NSF International, an independent health and safety assessor.
NSF's Dietary Supplements Certification Programme provides contract manufacturers a means to become independently registered as conforming to GMP requirements. GMPs are regulatory requirements that provide guidelines for necessary processes, procedures and documentation to assure the product produced has the identity, strength, composition, quality and purity it is represented to possess.
NSF conducted a plant audit at the NAI facility to verify compliance with GMPs, and further audits will be carried out to ensure that NAI maintains its GMP.
The GMP award can provide companies with a significant competitive advantage at a time when safety and transparency in the market are increasingly important. The GMP registration means that consumers have another tool when it comes to choosing which supplement to choose among the myriad of products currently available to them.
"NAI's GMP registration demonstrates their continued commitment to quality and to customer satisfaction," said Ray Jaglowski, NSF vice president, new business development. "I would like to congratulate NAI on becoming one of the first companies to receive GMP registration."
