7-Keto expands into weight loss market

Humanetics of the US has signed a licensing agreement with compatriot iSatori which will see its anti-ageing supplement 7-Keto adapted for use as a weight loss product.

Humanetics Corporation, a privately held company focused on the development of proprietary nutritional products, has agreed to license certain patent rights of its flagship product 7-Keto.

The rights will be licensed to iSatori Global Technologies, a dietary supplements manufacturer based in Golden, Colorado, which will be the sole licensee of a number of Humanetics' supplement formulations including 7-Keto.

iSatori's first product formulation featuring 7-Keto is being marketed under the Lean System7 brand name.

7-Keto is a natural metabolite of the human hormone DHEA and is has been primarily marketed as an anti-ageing product by Humanetics, which claims to have clinical evidence of the product's efficacy as at increasing energy, strengthening the immune system and enhancing memory.

The new agreement with iSatori will see the product expand into the weight loss market for the first time.

"An independent clinical research organisation recently conducted a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled eight week clinical trial evaluating 7-Keto's effects on body weight and body fat. The results of the study, published in the journal Current Therapeutic Research, revealed that a combination of exercise and supplementation with patented 7-Keto leads to a significant reduction in both body weight and body fat in overweight adults," the company claimed in a statement.
