NutraStar, the US company which specialises in products based on stabilised rice bran, has launched three new probiotic dietary supplements, called SynBiotics Formulas, which are designed to aid gastrointestinal (GI) health.
Probiotics are the 'good' bacteria that reside in the intestinal tract, performing many functions vital to the optimal health of the human system. The three different SynBiotics formulas each address different health concerns associated with the GI tract, and were launched at this week's annual convention of the American Gastroenterological Association.
Patricia McPeak, CEO of NutraStar, said: "Our SynBiotic Formulas combine high quality probiotics with our proprietary prebiotics in capsules which are enteric coated. Prebiotics feed and encourage the growth of the probiotic bacteria. These innovative products will be of great interest to physicians as well as people suffering from Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Crohn's Disease and antibiotic-induced diarrhoea. Clinical trials are underway to demonstrate the power of these natural whole food products."
Dr Rukmini Cheruvanky, chief science officer for NutraStar, added: "For the first time, potent probiotics have been formulated with the most nutrient-dense, hypoallergenic whole food matrix delivery system we have ever analysed. There are many probiotic products on the market today but none are formulated with prebiotics that encourage the formation of beneficial bacteria so essential to the creation of an environment conducive to human health," he claimed.
