Florida-based dietary supplement company Go2Pharmacy has launched a new nutrition product, Lean Protein Bites. The food is high in protein and low in carbohydrate, and comes in three sugar-free flavours.

The Bites are crunchy, bite-sized pieces, composed of nearly 100% protein, and are beneficial for diabetics and individuals following a low carbohydrate diet. They are available in convenient, single serving, 1 oz. packages. The product is marketed by and labelled under Breakthrough Engineered Nutrition, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Go2Pharmacy.

Lean Protein Bites were first launched in January and the company has already sold nearly one million bags in the first three months of the year. "By the close of the calendar year, we expect Lean Protein Bites to be sold in every major, regional and national grocery chain in the US," said Mihir Taneja, CEO of Go2Pharmacy.

The company claimed that Lean Protein Bites had captured the growing market of low carbohydrate dieters, diabetics and fitness enthusiasts who are seeking convenient, tasty snacks, adding that it estimated this market to be around 50 million people in the US alone.

"With diet and fitness-minded consumers now comprising nearly 20 per cent of the US population, demand for convenient, low carbohydrate foods has permeated the mainstream public. Therefore, our products sell as rapidly in grocery and convenience stores as they do in health food stores and gyms," said Nate Bernstein, Breakthrough's vice president of sales.
