The Ther-Rx subsidiary of US-based KV Pharmaceutical has launched PrimaCare, a new prescription nutritional supplement with essential fatty acids for pre- and post-natal women.
PrimaCare is specially formulated to provide both pre-natal and post-natal nutritional support for mothers and babies, and ongoing nutritional support for women throughout their childbearing years, the company said in a statement. The supplement is the latest in the Continuum of Care range of products from Ther-Rx tailored to the needs of women in their childbearing years.
The new supplement contains essential fatty acids that have been widely studied in pregnancy and are believed to support foetal and infant development and also the mother's immediate and long-term health. Infant formula manufacturers have recently received FDA approval to include essential fatty acids in their products, with the goal of duplicating the nutritional superiority of mother's milk.
"We believe PrimaCare provides a new way for women to protect their own health and promote critical early-stage foetal and infant development through a simple-to-use, prescription nutritional supplement," said Michael S. Anderson, president and CEO of Ther-Rx Corporation. "While heightened attention to the value of essential fatty acids has led to improvements in infant formula quality, PrimaCare offers these same potential benefits to mothers and babies even before the baby is born, and also helps support the mother's postpartum recovery and ongoing health throughout her childbearing years."
Ther-Rx's Continuum of Care line includes a range of prescription vitamins and supplements designed to promote maternal health along with healthy foetal and neonatal development, including PreCare pre-natal vitamins and PremesisRx, a prescription vitamin/mineral product designed specifically for women with morning sickness.
