Single-serve organic flavoured milk from Horizon

Horizon Organic has launched the first organic single-serve flavoured milk product through the Starbucks coffee house chain

Horizon Organic, which claims to be the leading organic brand in the US, has launched the first organic single-serve flavoured milk through the Starbucks coffee house chain.

The 2% reduced fat milk is available in four flavours, chocolate, vanilla, strawberry and plain, and comes in an eight-ounce 'kid-friendly' container with a straw.

The company said the product combined the popularity of single-serve products with the increasing demand for organic food and offered an "organic alternative to traditional grab-and-go beverages".

Around 2,500 Starbucks outlets throughout the US will sell the chocolate and vanilla variants of the milk, the second organic product from Horizon sold by the chain. The coffee specialist began selling Horizon Organic yoghurt in more than 1,000 of its stores across the US last summer.

"We are delighted to premiere our organic single-serve milk at Starbucks. Building our relationship with Starbucks provides Horizon Organic the chance to offer our products to a broader market," said Chuck Marcy, president and CEO of Horizon Organic.

"Starbucks will be offering its consumers a recognisable organic brand known for high quality. Furthermore, our single-serve milk offers a convenient and nutritious beverage designed for kids and adults alike."

Horizon Organic said that the single-serve milk products would soon be extended to a number of other natural products retailers in the US, including Whole Foods and Wild Oats, as well as to the conventional grocery retail sector. Horizon did not comment on whether the brand would be rolled out in its other principal market, the UK.
